a Chinese Qing dynasty sword of inlaid Damascus steel
Code: C-668Product detailed description
hand forged chinese sword made of overlaid damascus steel
.
The perfectly polished and double-sided hand-cut blade of this Chinese sword was hand forged from a combination of high and medium carbon steels. It was subsequently hardened in oil to achieve its maximum hardness and flexibility. Thanks to several folding of the blade during forging, a legible pattern (damascus steel) was created. This Chinese sword from the period the Qing dynasty has on the surface of the blade very nice engravings of Chinese letters and dragon . This hand-forged and polished Chinese sword is fully functional (ready for battle) - it will be appreciated by both active sportsman and many collectors.
.
Sword scabbard is made of Cocobolo wood, with a beautiful colour and pattern. Its mouth, as well as the other side, is fitted with solid brass fittings serving not only as decoration but also as protection against damage. For attachment to the belt, there is a brass cuff with a very plastic image of a dragon, which is attached to the sheath by a braid of black cord.
.
Wooden handle core is braided with black cord for a firmer and more comfortable hold. The overall appearance of the sword is dominated by a massive brass, carved guard with a depiction of hawks and a pommel cast again from a massive piece of brass, finishing the hilt of the sword, with a depiction of three dragons circling around the centre.

Qing Dynasty
Originally the Manchu Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) was the last traditional dynasty in Chinese history. Its final phase was marked by military defeats, constant infighting and economic decline. During the Qing Dynasty's heyday, however, the emperors managed to achieve an unprecedented territorial expansion of the empire.
